Media language: mise-en-scene

Create a new blogpost called 'Mise-en-scene: Stranger Things analysis'.
1) Choose THREE aspects of mise-en-scene (e.g. costume, lighting and setting) and write a short paragraph for each about the denotation and connotation and what is communicated to the audience.

Lighting: In the beginning of the scene, there was a man running in an abandoned hallway. The lights were flicking which creates a scary setting. Towards the end, there was a scene where the light bulb was flashing continuously which creates suspense for the audience. This encourages the audience to continue watching as they are interested in knowing what's going to happen next.

Costume: The costumes throughout the scene were quite casual. At the start, the man was wearing a doctor's uniform. Later on, the children were wearing clothes that we would wear everyday.

Props: There was a cell phone the boy was trying to call someone from but it wasn't working. There was also a gun towards the end to get the audience interested and wanting to continue watching as they will be curious about what's going to happen next.

Characters facial expressions: At the beginning of the scene, when the doctor was running he seemed quite stressed and worried. He was also sweating a lot and panting heavily which might tell us he was panicking. This may show the audience that something bad has happened. During the middle, the kids were joking amongst each other joyfully until one of the buys notices a sound 'BANG', the fear on their face was very noticeable.
