Media language: mise-en-scene

  Create a new blogpost called 'Mise-en-scene: Stranger Things analysis'.   1) Choose THREE aspects of mise-en-scene (e.g. costume, lighting and setting) and write a short paragraph for each about the denotation and connotation and what is communicated to the audience. Lighting : In the beginning of the scene, there was a man running in an abandoned hallway. The lights were flicking which creates a scary setting. Towards the end, there was a scene where the light bulb was flashing continuously which creates suspense for the audience. This encourages the audience to continue watching as they are interested in knowing what's going to happen next.   Costume: The costumes throughout the scene were quite casual. At the start, the man was wearing a doctor's uniform. Denotation & Connotation blog tasks: advert analysis Create a   new  blogpost in your GCSE Media blog called ' Denotation and connotation '. 1) Write an analysis of the  WaterAid advert above  using denotation, connotation and analysis. What can you see? What are the deeper meanings in the advert? What does the advert communicate to the audience? How might an audience react after seeing the advert? Denotation: This printed advertisement consists of a young African boy stood in front of a rural suburban village (technical code). It also features a water aid logo (symbolic code) and a slogan (written code). Connotation: The slogan is deliberately written in bold and white to get people who are seeing this to notice what is going on and what they are struggling with.   1) Which part of Media are you looking forward to the most? I’m looking forward to coursework. 2) What knowledge and skills do you hope to learn in Media?
