This is because many companies now offer the news on their websites or their apps which people find more convenient then going and buying a paper as it is for free and saves them time. There are also social media platforms which post about the news on short clips which saves the audience time as they can watch a quick clip rather than reading a whole a paper.

A free press matters because it keeps people informed and makes sure the government can’t just do whatever it wants without being questioned.
