Media assessment 1: learner response

Your learner response is as follows:

Create a new blog post called 'Media assessment 1: Learner response' and complete the following tasks:

1) Type up your feedback in full (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential).

WWW: Fajr, a good first assessment! Some ability to apply denotation and connotation throughout this assessment.

EBI: For Q5 -  you did not comment on how the WaterAid advert included mise-en-scene. Read Q's carefully in future assessments.

2) Read the mark scheme for this assessment carefully. Write down the mark you achieved for each question:

Q1: 1/1
Q2: 1/1
Q3: 5/12
Q4: 2/2
Q5: 3/6
Q6: 3/8

3) Identify one of your stronger questions. Why did you do better on this question? Use the mark scheme to help you with this.

One of my strongest questions is Question 4 as I was able to connote the image clearly, I spoke about the sadness in the young child's eyes, the lack of foo and water and about how he is asking for help.

4) Identify one of your weaker questions. Why did you score lower on this particular question? Use the mark scheme to help you with this.

One of my weakest questions in Question 6 as I didn't speak about the stereotypical to do with his race.

5) Finally, write a new, detailed paragraph for Question 3 - the unseen text 12 mark question. Use the mark scheme to identify anticipated content you can add to your response and make sure you refer to the text and write in detail.

The choice of the colour red may suggest she is powerful, fearless. She might be trying to convince the audience that by buying this perfume you will feel very confident. The idea of thee title (written code) may be to attract the audiences attention as it is a unique title. The lighting (technical code) is very dull to emphasise on her appearance contrasted to dimly lit background. This may have been used to symbolise attraction/love (symbolic code).  The slogan (written code) 'catch the fever' may suggest that everyone loves this perfume and everyone is using it so you could be one of them people too. Her stance reveals confidence and dominance.
