Camera movements and editing
Blog tasks:
1) Pick three aspects of camera movement in the Minority Report clip. Identify the type of camera movement and write about why the director chose to use that camera movement in the scene and what effect it has on the audience.
Zoom:
The executive may have chosen to add a scene where the camera is focused on the main character to show his emotions and facial expressions which show how he may be feeling in that moment.
Tilt:
The executive may have used tilt to portray the 'hero' and 'villain' in a different angle which in this scenario is tilted higher which gives us a medium view.
Dolly: The director may have used dolly to show us the view of how they are being chased. The camera moves to track the actions and in this scene it was included in a case.
2) Pick two aspects of editing in the Minority Report clip and write about what effect it has on the audience
They used juxtaposition to show the difference between the man and the people chasing him.
They use pace to show the speed as in this case it is a chase. They used fast cuts which suggest action and excitement to the audience.
3) Finally, revise last week's work on camerawork by picking out two shots or camera angles in the clip that communicate meaning to the audience.
- They used two shot to show the conversation between the two men.
- They used close up to show the characters facial expressions.
- They used long shot to show us the background and for us to be able to know what is actually going on (chase).
